From High-Rise to Castle: Designing with Russian-Made Software

Renga Software is thrilled to announce the upgraded Renga Professional computer-aided design system. The project has been developed with the grant support from Russian Information Technology Development Foundation as part of the Digital Economy national project.

Renga Professional is a complex 3D modeling software used for the comprehensive design of buildings and structures using BIM technology. Its functionality allows to replace foreign solutions such as Autodesk Revit, Archicad and AutoCAD. Notably, the domestically developed alternative introduces a new approach and design method – for the first time CAD software solution offers the capability for different specialists to work together on a single construction project in real time mode.

"To implement the new 'Infrastructure for Life' national project and increase demand for home-grown software in terms of expanding its functionality, it is necessary to continue to engage the expert community at the stage of developing digital products. This will help create conditions for strengthening Russia's technological sovereignty and improving the coordination of industry orders for the development of domestic digital solutions through industry committees and industrial competence centers," said Konstantin Mikhailik, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing, and Communal Services of the Russian Federation.

Renga Professional allows companies to optimize administration costs, control and eliminate errors, increase labor productivity and reduce construction costs.

"Renga Software BIM system is an excellent alternative to foreign IT solutions. Renga Professional, developed with the grant support from Russian Information Technology Development Foundation, allows speeding up the interaction between all construction market participants, which will ultimately improve people's comfort and safety," noted Alexander Pavlov, General Director of Russian Information Technology Development Foundation.

"Due to the grant, we were able implement collaborative design of buildings and structures in the real time mode, but also to collaborate in conditions of limited access to means of communication. This approach allows specialists to work autonomously and, when communication is restored, synchronize up-to-date data with their colleagues," said Evgeny Shuvalov, General Director of Renga Software.

"In our opinion, the developers have implemented efficient mechanism that allows for no restrictions on collaboration; it's pure teamwork. Using Renga Professional, one designer can refine a model, other designer can adjust schedules based on the model data, and a third designer can create drawings — simultaneously in a single file," said Pavel Slepnev, General Director of the Petergof Design Workshop.

Renga Professional BIM system has been implemented in the Rosatom State Corporation, DOM.RF and ProGorod, and other companies. The software is also used to train future designers at leading universities and colleges in 35 regions of Russia.

"NOTIM has always supported the work of Russian Information Technology Development Foundation, as initiatives like these aimed at supporting IT in the construction industry are extremely important and relevant. It is especially significant that the Renga Professional, which is a direct competitor to foreign software, has received such support. Not only it contributes to product development and market expansion, but also strengthens the competitiveness of Russian software. Updating programs to suit the specific needs of Russian users will undoubtedly be beneficial and ensure further audience growth," emphasized Mikhail Viktorov, President of NOTIM and Head of the Commission on Digitalization of the Construction Industry and Housing and Communal Services of the Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Construction.

In November 2024, it was announced that Setl Group Holding was the first in Russia to fully design a multi-apartment residential building in Leningrad Region, using domestically developed Renga Professional software at all stages. Agropromproekt Company is restoring an ancient Teutonic castle using Renga Professional, transforming it into a modern hotel.
